Woody Allen
Woody Allen is a prolific filmmaker, actor, and comedian whose blend of neurotic humor, complex characters, and sophisticated storytelling has made him one of the most enduring figures in American cinema. Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1935, Allen began his career as a comedy writer before transitioning to stand-up in the 1960s. In the 1970s, he shifted his attention to filmmaking, directing and starring in most of his films which were known for witty, cerebral dialogue and intellectual characters. After a number of slapstick comedies, Allen went on to direct a string of critically acclaimed works such as Annie Hall (1977), Manhattan (1979), and Stardust Memories (1980). Throughout the 1980s, he continued to direct impressive films including Hannah and Her Sisters (1986) and Crimes and Misdemeanors (1989). His output throughout the 90s and 2000s has been consistent and met with mostly critical praise. In total, he has directed almost 50 films. Thankfully, many of his great films are frequently available on free online streaming services and we've tried to collect them all here.
