Wes Craven
Wes Craven was a master American filmmaker in the horror genre. Born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1939, Craven began his career as a director in the early 1970s, with his breakthrough film being the controversial horror movie The Last House on the Left (1972). He followed that up with other cult favorites like The Hills Have Eyes (1977) and Deadly Blessing (1981), before unleashing his most iconic creation, the razor-gloved dream demon Freddy Krueger, in A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984). Craven continued to make horror films into the 1990s, directing the self-referential Scream (1996), and three of its sequels. Craven's willingness to push boundaries has made him a favorite filmmaker amongst horror fanatics. He passed away in 2015, but his impact on horror and slasher movies will be felt for generations to come. Thankfully, a number of his horror movies are available to stream for free online and we've featured them here.
