Takashi Miike
Takashi Miike is a Japanese filmmaker who has achieved cult status among fans of horror, action, and extreme cinema. With a prolific output that spans over three decades and includes more than 100 films, Miike has become one of the most recognized and controversial Japanese directors. Born in 1960 in Osaka, Japan, Miike began his career as a television director in the early 1990s with many direct-to-video productions. He transitioned to theatrical feature films with acclaimed movies like Fudoh: The New Generation (1996), Audition (1999), and Ichi the Killer (2001). He quickly gained a reputation for his innovative and often disturbing approach to filmmaking, which frequently pushes the boundaries of taste and morality. Despite his reputation for shock value, Miike is also recognized as a master of the craft, with a keen eye for visual storytelling.
