Steven Spielberg
Steven Spielberg is one of the most financially successful filmmakers of all time, emerging from the New Hollywood era of the 1970s to create the modern motion picture blockbuster. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1946, Spielberg was in raised Phoenix, Arizona, and then Saratoga, California before he moved to Hollywood. He worked his way into Universal Studios, where he began directing television and made his feature film debut with the TV movie Duel (1971). Spielberg became a household name after directing the summer blockbuster that changed American movies: Jaws (1975)! After that success, Spielberg continued to direct box office hits like Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977), Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982). In 1993, Spielberg's success peaked with the release of Jurassic Park (1993) and Schindler's List (1993). Since then Spielberg's output has been of varying quality, but he has amassed a directorial filmography of over 30 feature films. Because he is so popular, not many of his films are offered for free on online streaming services. When they do become available we'll feature them here.
