Sergio Corbucci
Sergio Corbucci was a prolific Italian filmmaker, who emerged in the 1960s as one of the leading directors of the Spaghetti Western genre. Born in 1926 in Rome, Corbucci started his career directing mostly low-budget sword and sandal movies. By the mid-1960s he moved into the emerging Spaghetti Western genre, directing classics like Django (1966) and The Great Silence (1968). By the 1970s, Corbucci proved to be a filmmaker of great versatility, exploring a wide range of genres from comedies to crime films.
