John Frankenheimer
John Frankenheimer was a director of intense and gripping films, renowned for his stylish visual flair and ability to craft thought-provoking stories. Born in 1930, he grew up in New York City and got his start in television in the 1950s. He soon transitioned to feature films, making his breakthrough film, The Manchurian Candidate (1962), which explored the dangers of political manipulation and paranoia during the height of the Cold War. Over the next several decades, Frankenheimer directed a string of memorable films that explored a wide range of subjects and genres, from his psychological horror masterpiece Seconds (1966) to his final film Reindeer Games (2000).
