Carol Reed
Carol Reed was a distinguished British filmmaker known for his impeccable craftsmanship and his ability to create tension and atmosphere. Born in London in 1906, Reed embarked on an acting career before becoming a director in the 1930s. With the outbreak of World War II, Reed served in the army creating wartime training films. After the war, Reed directed three of his most celebrated films in Odd Man Out (1947), The Fallen Idol (1948), and his masterpiece The Third Man (1949). Throughout the 1950s and 60s, Reed continued to direct big productions including Oliver! (1968) that won Oscars for Best Picture and Best Director.
