Abel Ferrara
Abel Ferrara is a renegade filmmaker who has never shied away from controversy. Ferrara's films are often marked by their uncompromising depiction of sex, violence, and addiction. Born in the Bronx in 1951, Ferrara made a name for himself in the 1980s with his gritty, urban dramas that explored the seedy underbelly of New York City. He is a master of the low-budget film, using his limited resources to create intense, visceral movies like The Driller Killer (1979), Ms. 45 (1981), and Fear City (1984). One of Ferrara's best films is Bad Lieutenant (1992), starring Harvey Keitel as a corrupt and drug-addicted police officer. Despite his reputation as an outsider and rebel, Ferrara has garnered critical acclaim throughout his career. Many of Ferrara's films are available on free online streaming services, and we're pleased to present them here.
