Richard Burton
Richard Burton was a consummate actor whose compelling presence and powerful baritone voice made him a natural for the stage and screen. Born in 1925 in Wales, he began his career in the theater, becoming a formidable Shakespearean actor. Starting in the 1950s, he went on to conquer the world of film, earning recognition for his work in movies like The Robe (1953), Look Back in Anger (1959), and Becket (1964). He had a tempestuous relationship with Elizabeth Taylor, whom he married and divorced twice, and he starred in numerous films with her including Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (1966) and Boom! (1968). Burton died in 1984, but his legacy as one of the greatest actors of his generation lives on.
