Douglas Fairbanks
Douglas Fairbanks was the ultimate swashbuckler of Hollywood's Golden Age, starring in iconic roles including The Mark of Zorro (1920), Robin Hood (1922), and The Thief of Bagdad (1924). Off-screen, Fairbanks was known for his extravagant lifestyle and high-profile romances, including his marriage to Mary Pickford, which made them one of Hollywood's most powerful couples. He was called "The King of Hollywood", and known for performing his own daring stunts to achieve maximum thrills onscreen. He was a founding member of United Artists and The Motion Picture Academy, and he hosted the 1st Academy Awards in 1929. Fairbanks' career declined rapidly in the sound era, but his impact on Hollywood and the action-adventure genre was indelible.
