Movie Description
Topkapi is a 1964 heist film directed by Jules Dassin. Based on Eric Ambler's 1962 novel The Light of Day, the movie tells the story of a colorful crew of thieves, led by the charming conman Walter Harper (Maximilian Schell), who plan to steal a priceless emerald-encrusted dagger from Istanbul's famed Topkapi Palace. Aided by the high-wire skills of the eccentric hustler Arthur Simpson (Peter Ustinov), who initially gets drawn into the plot unknowingly, the group prepares an elaborate plan for the theft. The movie combines suspense with light-hearted comedy and exotic scenery, and Ustinov won a Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for his performance.
