The Girl Next Door is a disturbing 2007 horror film directed by Gregory Wilson. Based on Jack Ketchum’s 1989 novel, the story is inspired by true events from the 1960s involving the prolonged torture of Sylvia Likens. The film follows two adolescent girls, Meg and Susan, who, after the death of their parents, are sent to live with their mentally unstable aunt, Ruth. Ruth and her three sons systematically abuse and torture Meg and Susan. The film delves into the dark underbelly of suburban life. Definitely not to be confused with the 2004 romantic comedy The Girl Next Door!
