Movie Description
The Fortune Cookie is a 1966 dark comedy film directed by Billy Wilder, featuring the duo of Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau in their first on-screen collaboration. Lemmon plays Harry Hinkle, a TV cameraman who gets accidentally sidelined by a football player during a game. Seeing an opportunity, his shifty brother-in-law lawyer, played by Matthau, convinces him to exaggerate his injuries to scam the insurance company with a fraudulent lawsuit. As the deception grows, hilarity ensues. Matthau's performance earned him an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, and the film solidified the comedic pairing of Lemmon and Matthau for years to come.
