Somewhere in Time is a 1980 romantic fantasy film directed by Jeannot Szwarc. The story follows Richard Collier, a playwright who becomes smitten with a vintage portrait of a beautiful actress. Using self-hypnosis, he travels back in time to meet her, leading to a passionate love affair that transcends the boundaries of time. The movie is based on Richard Matheson's 1975 novel Bid Time Return. It features a memorable score by composer John Barry. It stars Christopher Reeve, Christopher Plummer, and Jane Seymour.
