Rebecca is a 1940 psychological thriller directed by Alfred Hitchcock, marking his first American project. Based on the 1938 novel by Daphne du Maurier, it tells the story of a young woman, played by Joan Fontaine, who marries a wealthy widower, Maxim de Winter, portrayed by Laurence Olivier.
