Pusher is a 1996 Danish crime thriller directed by Nicolas Winding Refn. The film, which is the first installment in the Pusher Trilogy, centers around Frank (Kim Bodnia), a drug dealer in the Copenhagen underworld. After a drug deal goes wrong, Frank finds himself deep in debt to a ruthless Serbian drug lord. Over the course of a week, he plunges further into desperation as his attempts to raise the money spiral out of control. Marking the director’s debut, Pusher established Refn as a significant talent in international cinema. It was also the film debut of Mads Mikkelsen, who played Frank’s sidekick.
