Movie Description
Parents (1989) is a darkly comedic horror film directed by Bob Balaban. The movie follows the story of a young boy named Michael Laemle, portrayed by Bryan Madorsky, who moves to a suburban neighborhood in the 1950s with his seemingly ordinary parents, played by Randy Quaid and Mary Beth Hurt.
As he settles into his new surroundings, Michael starts to have disturbing nightmares and begins to suspect that his parents are hiding a gruesome secret. His suspicions intensify when he discovers evidence suggesting that his parents might be cannibals. The movie subtly uses horror and humor to critique the concept of the "perfect" suburban family, making for a chilling and eccentric viewing experience.
The movie did poorly at the box office and received mixed reviews, but eventually developed a cult following.
