Movie Description
Open Water is a 2003 survival horror film directed by Chris Kentis. Inspired by a true story, the film follows Susan (Blanchard Ryan) and Daniel (Daniel Travis), an American couple who are left stranded in the middle of the ocean while on a scuba diving vacation in the Caribbean. When their diving group mistakenly leaves them behind, they must face dehydration, the elements, and a swarm of circling sharks. Shot with a minimal budget, the film is notable for its realism, using actual sharks instead of CGI or mechanical sharks. Open Water explores the primal fear of the vast sea and the sharks that swarm within it. It got positive reviews and was a box office hit compared to its small budget.
