Flowers in the Attic is a 1987 psychological horror film based on V.C. Andrews' controversial 1979 novel. Directed by Jeffrey Bloom, the story follows the Dollanganger children, who, after the sudden death of their father, are forced by their wicked mother to hide in the attic of their ruthless grandmother's mansion. A brief stay turns into years of terrifying seclusion. The children's mother promises it's only temporary, but as time passes, the children realize their survival is dependent on themselves alone. The movie got bad reviews initially, but recent reviews have been decidedly mixed. The movie stars Louise Fletcher, Kristy Swanson, Victoria Tennant, and Jeb Stuart Adams.
