Movie Description
Eye of the Needle is a 1981 British spy thriller directed by Richard Marquand, based on Ken Follett's novel. The film is set during World War II and stars Donald Sutherland as Henry Faber, a ruthless German spy in England known as 'The Needle' due to his preferred method of killing. Faber discovers crucial information about the upcoming D-Day invasion and must return to Germany with the intelligence. After a storm strands him on a remote island, he becomes entangled with a lonely, unhappily married woman named Lucy (Kate Nelligan). As their relationship deepens, Lucy becomes the only obstacle between Faber and his mission, leading to a tense climax. The film received positive reviews. George Lucas liked it so much that he hired Marquand to direct Return of the Jedi (1983).
