Movie Description
Detachment is a 2011 American high school drama film directed by Tony Kaye and written by Carl Lund. It tells the story of Henry Barthes, portrayed by Adrien Brody, a substitute teacher who purposely keeps himself detached from the emotional burdens of life. His approach to life is put to the test when he begins a one-month assignment at a public school, where he encounters struggling students, overworked teachers, and a disintegrating system. Additionally, his personal life intertwines with his professional one as he encounters a prostitute named Erica (Sami Gayle), a messed up teen named Meredith (Betty Kaye), and a fellow teacher named Sarah (Christina Hendricks).
