Clueless is a 1995 coming-of-age high school comedy written and directed by Amy Heckerling. The film is a loose adaptation of Jane Austen's 1815 novel Emma, set in 1990s Beverly Hills. The plot centers around Cher Horowitz (Alicia Silverstone), a stylish and superficial high school student. Cher befriends a new student named Tai Frasier (Brittany Murphy) and works to give her a makeover to help her become popular. The cast of teens also includes Stacey Dash and Paul Rudd in his first feature film. With its iconic 90s fashion and memorable one-liners, Clueless is considered a classic of teen movies.
