Biutiful is a 2010 Spanish drama film directed by renowned filmmaker Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu. The film features Javier Bardem in an Oscar-nominated performance as Uxbal, a struggling father living in Barcelona who is dealing with a tumultuous personal life. In addition to raising two children on his own after a separation from his wife, Uxbal also grapples with a terminal illness and his involvement in the dangerous underworld of illegal immigrant exploitation. The film presents a raw, emotional portrayal of life in the face of certain death. The movie was nominated for two Academy Awards in Best Foreign Language and Best Actor for Bardem.
