Mel Brooks Sits Down with Conan O'Brien (2013)

Comedian & filmmaker Mel Brooks sits down for over an hour with Conan O'Brien as part of his Serious Jibber-Jabber conversations. Brooks covers his comedic career from the comedy of the Jewish neighborhood he grew up in New York City to his success in Hollywood with such comedy classics as The Producers, Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, and Spaceballs. Brooks is full of entertaining stories from being yelled at for his musical number “Springtime for Hitler” in The Producers to his lunch with Alfred Hitchcock while he was working on the script for High Anxiety. In many ways Brooks bravado comedic style is the opposite of Conan O'Brien’s self-deprecating humor, and they talk about comedic style and the influences they’ve shared.
